Migrating to Aotearoa New Zealand can be overwhelming: a new country, a new culture and a new careers system and job market. Pacific Work Connect is a free service to help eligible Pacific migrants become job-ready in the Aotearoa New Zealand job market.

It offers support to Pacific people living in New Zealand for 10 years or less through a series of workshops and one-to-one coaching that introduces them to the job market and gets them ready for work or study.

Target audience

The Pacific Work Connect programme is run by Pacific career consultants, for Pacific people anywhere in New Zealand.

Pacific Work Connect is available to, and tailored to, Pacific people living in New Zealand for 10 years or less, who hold specific visa types and are aged 16–65. Pacific career consultants guide Pacific people using a Kakala model framework that uses insights into Pacific culture, and aims to meet the needs of people arriving in a new land.

Campaign approach

The programme aims to guide Pacific people new to New Zealand into secure work or study, so they can live a happy life here. The campaign takes an aspirational perspective, encouraging the audience to “choose your career path”, “explore the possibilities” and “launch your career” by applying for the programme.

The advertising uses bright colours and Pacific motifs, bringing a Pasifika style to resonate with the Pacific community.

The campaign stresses that Pacific Work Connect is a Pacific programme for Pacific people, to ensure people have the confidence and courage to take the next step in their career – seeking guidance from professionals.
